2021 Quartz Acorn chardonnay
winemaker notes
The 2021 Quartz Acorn Vineyard Chardonnay opens with energy. The aromatics are lively, showing ripe white peach, lemon zest, and honeysuckle. An alluring salinity lingers on the nose as it opens. The palate is crisp and precise, with concentrated citrus and minerality taking stage. Fantastic energy through the wine, from the dynamic start to its enormous finish. This wine will age beautifully for 10+ years.
winemaking details
Sourced from the southeast slope of our Quartz Acorn Vineyard in Yamhill-Carlton, featuring the 95 clone. Our chardonnay is sorted slowly by hand and pressed whole cluster, with no settling time before barreling down. This wine was 100% barrel fermented with native yeasts and underwent full malolactic fermentation. Aged on lees for 11 in 100% neutral French oak. Very limited selection of 3 barrels. Alcohol of 12.5%.
vintage notes
We kicked off harvest on August 30th and wrapped up Chardonnay the first week of September. By mid-September, we were well into picking out our Iron Filbert Vineyard. We started with the bottom section of the vineyard and made our way up the hill steadily. The last pick for our Dundee Hills estate was on September 29th. This year, we incorporated a small percentage of whole cluster into the ferments. In hot, riper vintages like we are working with now, the stems are lignified enough to benefit and add beautiful complexity to the ferments. We brought in our first fruit from the Quartz Acorn Vineyard on Friday, October 1st.
wine information
This top tier showcases a limited barrel selection, with only 80 cases were produced in 2021. Fruit for this label is sourced from our organically farmed Quartz Acorn Vineyard in Yamhill-Carlton.

A very restrained nose with bright-citrus, fresh-pear and light bread-dough aromas, leading to a palate that has a superbly crisp, fresh, and lively, lemon and pear finish. Elegant and powerfully focused chardonnay.
