Featuring Adyn

As we continue to explore the beauty of craftsmanship within our community, we invite you to discover the designers behind Adyn, the makers of the stunning tables in our tasting room. Best part? They're family! Adyn was founded by our GM's brother and mother.

Adyn was founded by an architect and her son to build high-quality furniture rooted in timeless modern design. They craft generational-quality furniture that is architecturally designed, sustainably sourced, and durably made. All products are made in Oregon and are 100% carbon neutral.

a family affair

What sparked Adyn to come to life?

Bonnie is a LEED-certified architect who has been practicing for over 35 years. At a young age, Bonnie told her son Aaron to “never become an architect.” He listened, but his lifelong exposure to and appreciation of great design inspired a curiosity. Moving to New York, Aaron noticed that many of his peers complained of a lack of mid-tier options between the inexpensive, “single-use” furniture sold at big box stores and high-end, costly designers. The writing was on the wall for Bonnie and Aaron to team up and launch Adyn, which combines high-end, timeless design with durable, modern materials. Products that will adapt effortlessly to a customer as they pass through life’s many stages.

seeking inspiration

What are your influences in terms of architectural and industrial design?

"We believe that architects make the best furniture designers. They see the world as a marriage of form and function and are able to balance artful design with rigorous attention to practicality and proportion. Our work is inspired by some of our favorite architects who also designed furniture, including Aalto, Scarpa, Mies van der Rohe, and Le Corbusier. Decades on, their designs remain in style precisely because of this balance.

Are you guided by similar aesthetics when curating your place?

"We share a deep appreciation for clean, modern design (generally from the mid-1900s), and it is on display in both of our homes. Wherever possible, we nod to great architect-designers of the past, showcasing their furniture and a concept we believe they represent – “durable design” or designs that last for generations. We like to believe Adyn pieces fit well within this aesthetic."

on sustainability

Sustainability is at the heart of your business. How do you approach it in the world of furniture?

Adyn approaches sustainability from three angles: materials, longevity, and carbon neutrality. They start by sourcing sustainable materials and packaging whenever possible, including responsibly-harvested wood (Oregon-Milled, FSC), U.S.-made laminates (LEED Certified), and post-consumer recycled packaging. Next, they create products designed to last by using durable materials and designs. When Bonnie & Aaron started Adyn, their first and foremost principle was to create products with a 25+ year lifespan. They believe there is no better way to reduce the carbon footprint of the furniture industry than by creating well-made furniture that reduces consumer waste. Finally, Adyn achieves 100% carbon neutrality through sustainable sourcing, shipping, and operations, as well as the purchase of offsets for all emissions produced.

looking ahead

Tell us more about your first product. Do you have plans to expand your product line?

Adyn’s debut product, the Center Table, has a versatile design, ease of assembly, and durable construction, allowing it to lead many lives, transitioning from a dining room table to a large office desk. The piece is built of locally-milled Baltic birch and sold in 3 sizes, with the option of 3 tabletop finishes and 3 leg finishes – 27 combinations total. Looking forward, Adyn will be launching their shelving unit and coffee table later in 2023, with additional pieces to come.

In the meantime, you can shop the Center Table here or join us to sit at our table, crafted by Adyn.
